From the day you were born you were an artist.
Of course, you didn’t realize it then. It took a while.
When you were a bit older, you knew it, though.
You could no more restrain your creativity than a dog can restrain its love for its master.
Even when others crushed your dreams, you were still an artist. Your artist heart beats deep in your chest. It would pop out through your body when you danced, sang, created and played games with your friends.
Even when you stopped drawing or painting, your artist heart continued to beat. Your creativity turned to your work and your family. You created gourmet meals and decorated your home for Christmas. You taught life skills to your children.
You didn’t realize it at the time, but you were working on a masterpiece that would rival Leonardo’s “Mona Lisa.” You were working on a masterpiece called life.
Leonardo did not deliver the “Mona Lisa” as a finished painting. There seems to be some disagreement on how long he worked on it. It could be from four years to fourteen. We do know Leonardo took the painting from Italy to France. She was with him when he died. He worked on her up to the end. It was a love affair like none in the history of humanity.
We also know that Raphael sketched an image of the Mona Lisa in 1504. If Leonardo delayed painting the Mona Lisa until later, he painted more than one version.
Like Leonardo, we all have a second chance to make our masterpiece an exquisite work of art. It also means our masterpiece remains unfinished.
