Bill demonstrates a quick and easy way to add detail to a dry painting.
When Bill talks about “build-up” he’s talking about a painting that has so much paint on it that there is an almost three-dimensional effect. As he draws his brush down the canvas, the “high points” in the painting pull the paint off the brush adding detail as if you took a very fine brush and touched up the painting in those same spots.
In one or two brush strokes, Bill accomplishes the same thing that would take hours with a small brush.
