“The poison of the world!”

One thing you have to say about Bill…he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. In fact, some of his videos could not be shown on television for exactly that reason. Fortunately his message today isn’t quite as controversial.

Bill states over and over in his videos to keep your layers of paint thin. If there is any secret to his method of oil painting, this would certainly be at the top of the list.

What Bill is saying is that by keeping your layers dry (thin) you can stack paint layer on top of layer, on top of layer. Even beginners should, easily, be able to stack three layers of paint following Bill’s advice. But there are ways to get even more layers which allows you to add the detail to your paintings that Bill didn’t have time to show on his television program.
