Bill continues to add thick layers of color to the painting. Notice that Bill is not highlighting. He doesn’t care if the paint “sticks” to the bottom layer. He knows it will because it’s just more of the same paint, just a different color.
He also advises you not to worry if the paint doesn’t go on exactly right. Nature is not perfect. Even the most beautiful flower has flaws when you examine it closely. Bill is saying that your painting will be closer to nature with the “flaws.”
