Notice at the :25 second mark how Bill creates the “splashes”. He presses the fan brush into the canvas while slightly pushing down on the brush. He then lifts the brush off the canvas. This gets all the paint out of the brush. It creates a heavy amount of paint which allows him to create the “spray” by lightly “flipping” that layer of paint.
Doesn’t the lake, behind the waterfall, now appear fully formed. And how about the reflection he has created along the left side of the lake – where the sunshine would be hitting it. Not only are the mountains reflected in the lake, but the sunlight is bouncing off the lake surface. This is how a master plays with light.
