Two great tips in this video clip. Watch how Bill highlights his tree trunks. He has already “plowed” through the paint, so he has removed the paint so he can lay in his highlights without worrying about “mud”.
However, it’s a different animal (as Bill would say) when it comes to highlighting the trees. You’ve already seen him slather on the paint, so you’ve got to make your highlights stick on top of that paint. The only way you can do that is to thin down the paint. IF YOU DON’T then one of two things will happen: your paint will “slip” or you’ll get “mud”.
