The resolution is high enough that you should be able to see Bill’s technique in exquisite detail. We’re giving you these short clips so you can focus on each part of his technique that otherwise might be lost in a complete video. (Don’t worry, we’ll be posting full videos to the website in the near future.)
Most online videos are what one YouTube commenter called “Watch Me” videos. We want our videos to be teaching videos. Every clip we post has one more nuance of Bill’s technique that we think bears watching. For example, in this clip you can see, very clearly how the weave of the canvas shows through the base layer of Bill’s mountain. That’s how thin you must make that layer.
We mentioned in a prior video Bill’s genius in the way he created his mountain technique. Bill was the first, and only artist, to introduce this technique to painters in America. No artist has changed that technique in the nearly twenty years since Bill died!
