Bill knew that not everyone understood the importance of using the right paint. That’s why he warned them to find a thick, thick paint.
No paint manufacturer at the time made a paint specifically for Bill’s method of oil painting. No one, other than Alexander Art, makes Bill’s special paint today.
Have to?
If you were to ask us, “Do we HAVE to buy Bill’s paint?” our answer is “No, you don’t.”
If…
You change your technique.
What???
Think about it. If your paint is not made especially for the Alexander Method™, you’d better change how you paint.
Why thick?
A thick paint has less oil in it than regular paint. That means it will stack well on top of other layers as you add oil to thin the paint.
If your paint is too thin, then you can’t thin it as with Bill’s paint.
If your paint is too soupy, it won’t “stack” at all. The paint will mix with the bottom layers and create mud.
Got a round peg?
We’re not going to tell you other paint won’t work. It is, though, like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You can do it, but it isn’t easy.
Not necessary?
If the thick paint wasn’t necessary, do you think Bill would have gone to all the trouble to make it? Bill went the extra distance to make sure his students would be successful.
Alexander Art continues his legacy by making Bill’s paint today. We want you to succeed as an artist just like Bill. When you have the right tools, you create beautiful things.
Yellow, Red, and Blue
There is another gem of wisdom in today’s video.
Ever notice how little paint Bill uses? How few colors?
We created a self-study course called the “Yellow, Red, and Blue” Art Course. You can create every painting in the course with the primary colors, black, and white.
If you master creating colors from the primaries, you can paint anything. In fact, our Advanced Master Class is all about color and mixing paint. We teach how to use color to show distance and create depth and perspective in your paintings.
Master color
If you don’t think the right paint matters that may be why you aren’t as successful as you could be. Check out our “Yellow, Red, and Blue” Art Course. In as little as ten minutes a day, you can become a master of mixing colors. We also have a special price on a paint package to go along with the course.
