It’s not how fast you paint…it’s how you paint fast!
Bill mentions in his autobiography that his method of oil painting was frowned on by traditional artists. Odd, isn’t it, because Bill was using a technique that went back to the early Renaissance “Old Master” artists.
It took Bill 40 years to perfect his method of oil painting. He developed it not to win speed painting contests but to get ideas out of his head and onto the canvas as quickly as possible. Don’t think for a second that Bill’s house was full of 27 minute paintings. We’ve seen his paintings, especially his “big” ones…the 24″ X 36″, the 36″ X 48″ canvases and those were most assuredly not 27 minute paintings.

It would be nice to see pictures of Bill’s larger paintings; they must be magnificent!
