How does Buck evaluate a photo?
Today’s video is a bit different. It is a recording of a conversation between Buck Paulson and me. We’ve worked together off and on for 33 years. We are good friends and sometimes we just like to get together and talk about life and art.
I had questions about painting rocks and I knew Buck would have answers. As I walked into my office, I passed this pile of rocks. So I snapped a quick photo to show Buck. The rocks are in the parking lot to protect the sign and to keep people from driving on the grass. Years ago they were painted bright yellow, however, the paint has worn off over time.
Points To Consider:
- Anything can be used as a reference photo for your painting.
- Just because something appears in nature a certain way, doesn’t mean that it should be painted that way.
- As an artist, you have the ability to change what you don’t like.
- A great way to learn is to listen to a Master Artist.
We hope you enjoyed our conversation about rocks. What is something you pass every day that just might help you with your painting?
Happy Painting!
