Painting on a Dry Canvas
Today’s Tip Comes from our “Master Class with Tom Anderson.” He explains the procedure of painting on a dry canvas. Every great artist refines his/her work long after it was supposed to be done. Sometimes it is best to let a painting hang on your wall for a while while you evaluate it. If you want to add to it, no problem! Tom will show you one way to do it.
Things to Consider:
- Tom starts with a dry canvas.
- Tom is showing a renaissance technique. Yes, they used clear oil as well.
- The Alexander Magic Clear is not only clear but concentrated. A little goes a long way. It has a faint smell of lavender and is made with an all-natural process. No harmful chemicals.
- He used a very, very thin coat of oil. Wipe it In with a paper towel.
- Then Tom added a tree using the wet-on-wet technique.
- If Tom had been dissatisfied with the results he could have used an “art wipe” to remove the paint so he could start over.
This is an example of the kinds of things you can learn in our Master Class.
Happy Painting!
