Another Concept From Our Master Class!
Today’s Video Clip comes from our Intermediate Master Class with Tom Anderson. (Don’t let the name Master Class, fool you. It isn’t for Master Painters! It is for those who would like to learn to master techniques and to become a great painter.)
This particular technique will be taught over three different Daily Video Tips.
Key Points to Consider for today’s video;
- Tom is painting on a wet canvas.
- By making the foliage on the backside of the tree a green-grey, it will help give dimension to the tree.
- Notice that Tom makes his paint as he goes along. This is a technique he teaches throughout the Master Class Series. He is constantly changing his dollop to the color he needs. This saves on paint! He also ensures there will be harmony throughout the painting because he uses the same basic colors to make all of his mixtures.
- Tom uses a Medium Fan Brush to scrub the foliage onto the canvas.
- He divides the foliage into thirds. He keeps the top part light and airy and adds highlights.
- He tones the colors down by adding Violet, Alizarin Crimson, and a touch of Ivory Black for the middle third.
- Tom adds more black for the bottom third.
This is an example of the wonderful techniques you will learn from Tom Anderson. Ready to get started?
Happy Painting!
