Many times people see complicated-looking subjects and are afraid to try. Seems like painting a wicker basket would be difficult but in today’s Video Clip, Lowell shows you an easy way to do it. This is one of Lowell’s most successful paintings of all time and now it can be yours too.

Key Points to Consider:

• Lowell uses an Alexander Bristle Brush to block in the handle
• Lowell uses an Alexander Red Sable Brush to get the fine lines he is looking for.
• He uses Yellow Ochre and Titanium White (soft) with a touch of Permanent Red
• He starts midway up the handle because he wants this area to be the brightest
• Lowell uses a very light touch
• He reloads his brush with each stroke because he is picking up dark paint from the canvas.
• He leaves space between each new stroke to create a shadow
• Lowell isn’t worried if the weave looks perfect as many weaves aren’t
