Today’s Tip Comes from our “Beginning Master Class.” A while back Tom showed us how to create a “Practice Board.” We used enamel paint on wood and created a surface we can use to practice without wasting canvas. Well, it is never really wasting canvas but you know what we mean.

Things to Consider:

1. The enamel finish is what makes this practice board clean up easily.
2. Practice a little scene or practice individual strokes, whatever you want to do.
3. Magic White goes on the canvas first and then you can practice as if you were painting on canvas.
4. Something Tom didn’t do here but might be a good idea is to take a photo of your work before you wipe the board off. That way you can see your progress.
5. First Tom uses the Alexander Palette Knife to scrape as much of the paint as he can off the canvas.
6. He places the paint back on the canvas to use again
7. Tom uses art wipes “baby wipes” to clean the paint off the canvas.
8. He used an abrasive detergent to scrub the stain from the board.
9. He did a final wipe with an art wipe and he was ready to go again.
