Save Money and Improve Your Skills
Today’s Tip Comes from our “Introductory Master Class.” We believe, perfect practice, makes perfect! We also know canvas can be expensive and so we don’t want to waste it on practicing. Well, it isn’t really wasting canvas when we practice painting strokes, but sometimes it seems that way. We’ve developed an alternative. There are two parts to this process. Today we will show you how to make a practice board and in Part 2 we will show you how to use it.
Remember when you were a child, first learning how to write numbers and letters? Maybe it is different now but our experience went like this.
- We would get a lined piece of paper.
- We were expected to take our time and create rows and rows of the same letter.
- Our teacher would circle our best one to show us what success looked like.
- We’d do it again and again. Eventually, it became “muscle memory.” We could do it without thinking.
Can you imagine the freedom we would achieve while painting if we applied the same principle to learning how to paint? Create a “practice board” and practice away! What comes to mind as I write this, is how effortlessly Lowell paints his leaves and flower petals. He can do this because he has painted thousands of them in his lifetime. You can get there too!
Just think how free you will be to paint when you have basic keystrokes down?
This is an example of the kinds of things you can learn in our Master Class.
Keep watching our tips! In “Practice Board Part Two,” we will show you just how magical your practice board can be.
Happy Painting!
