You have probably noticed that we are passionate about sharing great information with you.  I was watching Tom review paintings that are done by our students in our “Beyond Master Class.”  I’ve mentioned before that we have a Master Class that is designed to take a complete beginner, step by step (we believe in baby steps,) through the fundamentals of oil painting to advanced, Old Masters, techniques.  The people in our Beyond Master Class have completed all three levels and are now in our live class (well, kind of live, it is through zoom online.). We meet twice weekly.  One day to learn new techniques and one day for Tom to review the paintings our students are painting, along the way.  Tom Anderson studied Bill Alexander like none other.  He also studied the lives and techniques of the Old Masters as well.   Over the course of 30 plus years, he has taught those techniques to tens of thousands of students.

Today’s Daily Video Tip teaches an important technique that came up yesterday while Tom was critiquing Danielle’s painting called, “Thru The Arch.”  This is one of the projects our Beyond students are working on.  Tom taught it over the course of 12 hours.  Danielle is halfway as she just completed the sixth hour.  Oh, and by the way, Danielle only started oil painting a year ago.  With her permission, at the beginning of the video, I’ve shared a photo of her work BEFORE she joined us at Alexander Art in the Master Class.  You won’t believe what she is doing now!  Click on the video and see for yourself!  As you can see we are very proud of her growth!

Now for the technique that Tom teaches;  It is all about soft edges!  He shows us a concept that explains when and where to soften the edges and when things should be sharply in focus.  Notice that Tom is using the pointer on the screen to show what he is talking about.
