The Broadleaf Explained!
Have you ever noticed how quickly a magician shows his magic? Well, Lowell tells us the best way to paint leaves and petals is to paint quickly. In today’s clip we slow Lowell down so we can see the “magic” behind his brush! Once you have the stroke down you can speed it up for accuracy.
Key Points To Consider:
- The canvas is wet.
- Lowell is using the Alexander Red Sable Brush. The reason this works so well is because of the design of the brush. It has just enough spring but also comes to a complete chiseled edge.
- He mixes the color he wants to use, on the palette.
- He varies the length of the strokes which varies the width of the leaf.
- This is a common leaf that is easy to learn. Just remember to practice and practice.
Anyone can learn to paint, even you! Or shall we say especially you! Let us know how we can help you become the artist you’ve always wanted to be.
Happy Painting!
