“Everyone can have creative power, you just have to ask for it!” Bill Alexander
When I was preparing this video I was reminded of the time we spent in the studio with Bill. This project, Grand Canyon, never aired on PBS. Sometimes that happened. We would film the show and maybe something would go wrong or Bill would speak something from his heart that might not fit the PBS guidelines. We didn’t have the editing tools we have today so we filmed the shows straight through. They either made the cut or they didn’t. Thankfully, though we were unable to show them on PBS, we kept them in the archives.
Today’s project didn’t air on PBS because there was something wrong with the film. With today’s technology, we were able to save most of the show. I am telling you this because usually we show you every second of the show but today we had to cut a few places out. There is so much good in this video that we wanted to share it with you anyway.
Key Points To Consider:
- Bill is painting on a wet canvas (I know I tell you that often but it is important to keep in mind.)
- He introduces greens and yellows as he moves closer to the foreground.
- Bill had fond memories of going to the desert in California. He loved to go during the flowering season to see all the colors.
- Bill loved color. When he used bright colors, he would call them happy colors.
Happy Painting!
