Lowell carefully steps through how to create a poppy.
This video is a little longer than usual. During one of Buck’s Critique Class, the subject of painting a poppy came up. So I looked through our archives and found this video where Lowell demonstrates and explains so well each step of the process.
The only thing I would add to what Lowell will tell you is to notice the paint and brushes that Lowell used. Lowell didn’t use our thick paint straight from the tube. He thinned his paint with Soft White (we no longer sell Soft White because Magic White works just as well.). He used a couple of brushes that made painting easier. He used our Script Liner Brush, Red Sable, and Flat Bristle Brush. These brushes were added to our line with Lowell in mind. Doesn’t matter what you paint, if you are looking for good control and the ability to create thin lines, the Sable Brushes are just what you need. They are versatile and a joy to use.
If you don’t have these brushes yet, you might want to call Dawn (360-686-1102) and order them.
Happy Painting!
