Tom gives us a quick tip while blocking in his painting.
Tom was teaching a live class. He started a new painting called “Greece.” This video was all about blocking in the big shapes and base colors. You won’t be able to see how he did it but there is something that he says here that is key. He says when you first start the blocking stage, begin with the lightest color on your canvas. If you have an overall tone, begin with the lightest color. In this painting, Tom started with the aqua color. By the way, he achieved this color by mixing Phthalo Blue and Phthalo Green with a touch of white when he wanted it varied.
We love what we learn in Tom’s live classes. As I watch him paint I am always thinking of things I can share with you. I hope you find this video tip helpful. If you are interested in our classes, just call us at 360-686-1102. It doesn’t matter where you are on your art journey, what does matter is that you start from where you are and grow from there.
Happy Painting!
