Don’t be afraid of color!.
Bill continues with his floral painting. He is painting it all with a palette knife paying attention to shapes and color.
Points To Consider:
- The paint on the canvas is wet.
- He lightens up the green mixture (Phthalo Green and Sap Green) by adding Cadmium Yellow.
- The colors flow because of the common green leaf mixture.
- He touches the canvas with a very light touch so he doesn’t remove the paint that is already on the canvas.
- At times he presses harder to mix the color with the color on the canvas to get different values.
- He knows if he adds a flower, he must add a shadow.
Bill’s message throughout this painting is to not be afraid of color. Notice the shapes he places on the canvas with his knife. He keeps the darks where he wants the shadowy area and uses a lighter green where light would be hitting the arrangement.
