Let there be light! Today Sharon adds the light source.
In this video, Sharon completes her painting called “Nocturne.” She will show a simple way to add her light source using her fingers. Note, she is using Alexander paint and it is safe to touch. If you are using another brand we recommend you use a brush.
Points To Consider:
-
- Sharon’s canvas is wet.
- She adds Yellow Ochre to her fingertip.
- Sharon creates two lights. Notice the one in the distance is lower and smaller to add perspective.
- Magic White can substitute for Alexander Soft White. We no longer make Soft White because the Magic White works just as well.
- She continues to work the white paint into the Yellow Ochre until she has a smooth look.
- If something isn’t working for you, it is easy to change. Sharon placed too much paint onto the canvas so she used the soft Hake Brush (Bunny Brush) to blur the edges and soften the look.
- She makes the lamp post a little wider as she moves towards the sidewalk.
Anything can be a reference for a painting. Remember this scene came to Sharon in a dream! If you can dream it, you can do it!.
Happy Painting!
