Buck shows us one more way to make an orange look round. I think this is the fastest way yet! He begins with the mid-tones. He adds the dark areas and then wipes them out for the lights. Then he tops it off with highlights. So in just a couple of minutes, he shows us how to apply four different values. He also shows us a couple of paintings he did using this same technique.

Buck prefers to paint on a canvas primed with color. He likes the accidental effects that come through. He primes his canvases with acrylic paint just so they can dry quickly. It is also possible to prime the canvas with oil paint, and then let it dry. So if you don’t have acrylic paint, no worries, just use oil paint!
