Creating form on a large object.
In this video, Buck shows us another way to create the illusion of a round object. This time he is creating a transparent monochrome.
Why study still life painting? Buck explains that when you paint a still life you are working on a variety of techniques. Some of the things you learn are drawing and composition, lights and darks, values, colors, shadows, glazing, and perspective.
Buck says that if you love what you are painting, it will show in your finished product. No wonder we love your work Buck!
Some of the things to watch for today are as follows;
-
- Light is coming from the left.
-
- Buck wipes out where the highlight will go which makes it easier to add paint.
-
- He wants the edges to be soft, not sharp.
-
- Buck wipes the paint out of his brush before he softens the highlight.
- Often a transparent monochrome is used when you want a uniformed color over the whole canvas.
Happy Painting!
