Bill adds sunshine to his trees.
In this video, Bill will add sunshine to his trees. He always keeps in mind the direction his light is coming from.
Key Points:
- Bill is painting on a wet canvas.
- He has let this part of the canvas sit for a while while he worked on his water. This gives the paint a chance to tack up allowing the highlights to go on easier.
- Bill mixes his highlighting color with a little bit of Magic White. This thins the paint so the thin paint will stick to the thick base paint.
- Notice the bristles of the 1″ Brush don’t bend.
- When Bill adds the tree trunk he uses the Palette Knife and plows through and removes the paint exposing the canvas which gives the illusion of a tree trunk.
- Once the paint is removed, he loads the Palette Knife with white and red paint. The paint goes on the canvas easily because he removed the background paint.
- When Bill creates the foliage that “hangs over” he directs the viewer’s eye where he wants it to go.wants
Happy Painting!
