Bill continues his painting of Spring Thaw
In this video, Bill adds highlights and more water to his painting.
Key Points:
- Bill goes to the “shadow side” and creates the illusion that light is coming through the trees. He creates a cliff edge with his palette knife.
- Bill speaks of creative power. He believed with all his heart, that everyone was given the gift to create. He also believed that if we all would use that gift, the world would be a better place! We think Bill was right!
- He is using Titanium White with a pinch of Cadmium Yellow. (Just enough to make it not pure white.).
- He uses two fan brushes. One for the lights and one for the darks. This saves money because he doesn’t have to wash the paint out of the brush as he goes back and forth between the lights and shadows.
- Bill uses a very soft touch. The Alexander Fan Brushes are high-quality brushes designed specifically for Bill’s technique. The bristles are quite stiff which gives the effect of water streaking downward.
- He allows the darks to show through so it looks like rushing water.
Happy Painting!
