In this video, Bill continues to paint his project called “Spring Thaw.” There are a few things to consider. Notice Bill moves around the canvas. He doesn’t work in the same place for very long. He is going to add light and shadows to the thick paint that is already on the canvas. This paint has been oxidizing while he worked on the other parts of the canvas. This lets him lay another layer of paint on top. He uses his palette knife and proceeds as if he is frosting a cake.

Bill knows that in order for the light to show he must add more dark. Bill was a master at applying light and shadow!
