Tom shows a simple shortcut
This video clip comes from our Beyond Master Class with Tom Anderson. This is a class that meets online weekly to learn “Old Master’s Techniques.” We work on three paintings at a time so there is drying time to allow layering and glazing.
Tom is going to show a shortcut as he begins the mapping stage of his “Sherry’s Seascape” painting.
Key Points to Consider for today’s video;
- Tom adds painter’s tape in a criss-cross manner to identify the center of the canvas.
- He will divide the canvas into sections, making sure not to divide the canvas in half.
- He uses a t-square to make sure his lines are straight.
- Tom loosens his paint with a “slur” that he made by crushing white pastel chalk and mixing it into his Alexander Magic Clear. (These are some of the tips that are taught in this class.)
- He uses red to define the lines because red is the “center” color and is very forgiving.
This is an example of the wonderful techniques you will learn from Tom Anderson. Ready to join us? Call Dawn at 360-608-1840 and find out more.
Happy Painting!
