Diane is back into the thick paint again!
Key Points To Consider:
- Diane is painting on a wet background.
- Diane makes a dark mixture of thick paint using VanDyke Brown and a touch of Burnt Umber to use for the base of the tree bark. She loads her knife with a lot of thick paint.
- The paint pulls off of the knife onto the canvas.
- She adds three values by adding more white each time.
- By adding the dark trees in front it added depth to the painting by pushing the other trees further away.
- She creates the shadow by using Black Medium and a touch of her dark green mixture. She used the Black Medium because she wanted the paint to be thin.
- Black Medium on the Script Liner works like an ink pen. She is able to easily draw in the branches because the paint is very thin.
Diane was an excellent teacher and a great artist. Thank you Diane for sharing your gift with us!
Happy Painting!
