Highlighting has never been easier!
In this video, Bill completes his painting called “Mountain Water Runoff.” He adds highlights to the foreground trees and adds more foliage in the foreground.
Key Points To Consider:
- Bill’s canvas is wet
- He thins Cadmium Yellow with Magic White ®
- Remember, thin paint sticks to thick paint
- Notice Bill allows the base color to show through to create form.
- He touches the highlighting color into the base and creates a third value.
- Bill is rushing through this last part because he was out of time. His focus for this project was to teach us how to create churning water.
- If he had more time he would add more colors in the foreground.
- He varies the height of the foreground shrubbery to create interest.
- Bill looks over his painting and decides to add more highlights on the right of the foreground trees.
Happy Painting!
