A thick, firm paint makes all the difference
In this video, Bill will show you a simple way to add clouds to your sky.
Points To Consider:
- Bill is painting on a wet canvas. The Magic White is properly applied.
- He points outthe.Prussian Blue on the palette is dark but it appears lighter on the canvas. This is because it is applied lightly and mixes with the Magic White.
- Bill says that a painting is always more interesting if the light source is coming from the side.
- We no longer recommend using thinner or solvents for cleaning brushes or thinning paint.
- Bill uses Titanium White to add the clouds.
- He says to paint with a smile on your face!
- He also says imagine your ARE the cloud and you are floating in the air. When you put yourself in the painting it just makes more sense.
- Bill planned ahead. He knewhe wanted the brightest light behind his mountain peak.
- The shadow color is applied on the left side of the clouds, away from the light source.
- Painting wet-on-wet is much more difficult with loose paint.
Bill Alexander spent years developing the perfect paint for his technique. Unfortunately, by the time he had the perfect paint, he was no longer teaching. It was to help his students paint easier that he worked so hard. Thankfully we have the same formula today.
Happy Painting!
