We found another great video by Master Artist, Diane Andre.
Often we get the question, “do we have any other videos by Diane Andre?” Well, today I am happy to see we do. This Video Tip is the beginning of another painting by Diane. Filmed up at Bill’s home, in Powell River, BC in June of 1985, but still relevant today!
Key Points To Consider:
- Diane utilized Alexander Black Medium like no one else we know.
- She says she is conditioning her. canvas. She saves time and paint by beginning with dark where she wants the deep dark forest to be.
- She has divided her canvas by thirds. The first and last third are covered in Black Medium and the middle third is covered in Magic White. The paint is wet.
- She put the Magic White in the center because that is where the focus of light will be.
- She uses very little paint.
- Diane begins by applying Indian Yellow in the center of the canvas.
- She cleans her brush between colors.
- We don’t recommend using thinner or solvents at any time while painting.
- We suggest you clean up with soap, water, and vegetable oil at the end of the day. If you need the formula for this cleaner, just hit reply to this email and I will send it to you.
- We also suggest you use baby wipes to clean your brushes while you are painting.
- Next Diane adds Sap Green into the dark areas of the canvas. Notice how much she works the paint into the thin coat of Black Medium.
- She cleans her brush again and then blends the colors together. She starts in the light and works into the back. Wiping the brush often is a good idea.
- Though she has blended two layers of paint together, she still has a very thin coat of paint on the canvas. This is very important so she will have success with the next layer.
