“Art Wipes” Save the Day AGAIN!
Today’s Video Clip comes from our Alexander Beyond Master Class with Tom Anderson.
He is creating a beautiful mountain scene and wants to teach us how easy it is to use an “Art Wipe” (Baby Wipe) to remove paint to help with future layers. Wouldn’t it be much harder if Tom had to be careful not to paint in the areas that he wanted to be the most intense? Can you imagine the time he would have had to take to paint around the areas he wanted to keep white? If you aren’t using art wipes yet we bet you will be after watching today’s Video Tip.
Key Points
- Tom is painting on a very smooth canvas
- He applies the paint on the whole mountain knowing he can define the waterfall area by removing paint.
- He uses the “Art Wipe” to remove the paint. Every time he goes back to the canvas his finger is on a clean area of the “Art Wipe.”
- The paint removes easily BECAUSE of the smooth canvas.
- He does this step while the paint is very wet.
- By exposing the brightness of the canvas, Tom will get a brighter outcome easily.
- This isn’t the only way to achieve this effect but it certainly is an easy way.
Here’s to not struggling!
Happy Painting!
