Master Artist, Diane Andre, Shows Us Another Great Tip!
Diane will continue her project, “The Road Less Traveled.” In fact today, she will show us an easy way to put in the road! Such an easy technique with a marvelous result!
Key Points To Consider:
- We don’t recommend you use Paint Thinner. We do recommend you use Baby Wipes and Tom’s Environmentally Friendly solution.
- Diane utilizes Alexander Black Medium to set the mood.
- The Black Medium and Magic White® are wet on the canvas.
- She uses the Alexander 1″ Foliage Brush.
- Her brush is loaded with Titanium White and Burnt Umber.
- Pay close attention to the pressure applied to her brush.
- She lays the road in and reapplies the paint to shape it the way she wants it.
- Notice how it gets more narrow as it disappears behind the bend?
- She doesn’t clean her brush before she uses it to flatten out the road.
- She uses horizontal strokes gently back and forth.
- Diane uses the Palette Knife to lay in some texture. She uses the same color of paint and mixes it to a marbled effect.
- She loads just a bead of paint on the edge of the knife and reloads as needed.
- Diane adds highlights by using the same method and colors (she just used more white.)
