Bill shares with us his experience of selling paintings. He talks about when he first started. He painted everything perfectly. For example, if there should be curtains in the window, he put them in. Did the window have a window sill? If so, he put it in! He was so detailed in his work until… he found that the detailed paintings just didn’t sell. So, he started giving them more character and leaving details out, and then his paintings started to sell.

Bill loved to build things with his hands. I remember visiting him in his home in Powell River, where several of his shows were filmed. He had several little buildings all over his property. A little house for the chickens… a little house for tools… a painting studio… These buildings looked very much like the ones he paints in his paintings.

One of the things that made Bill such a successful artist is that he put stories into the paintings he created. Even in today’s Video Clip, he comments on the fact that the guy who built the house he is painting added on a shed to keep his lawnmower!
