Imagine What Your Paintings Will Look Like Once You Understand This Concept!
Common problem artists have, when they first learn to paint, is learning to control the amount of paint in the brush and on the canvas. Today’s Video Tip is short, but oh so powerful! It happens so fast that it would be easy to miss some key points. (Though we do slow it down a bit!). Learn this simple tip and painting will become the joy it is meant to be.
Key Points To Consider:
- Bill’s canvas is prepared with a thin coat of Magic White®
- Too much Magic White® would cause the paint to slip and slide on the canvas. With a thin coat, the brush comes in contact with the texture of the canvas.
- He used the same technique that he shows here for the blue portion of the sky.
- Bill uses very, very little paint which keeps the first layers thin.
- He takes the time to get the paint right in his brush before he goes to the canvas.
- By using little paint and applying less pressure, the canvas is prepared for thicker paint to follow.
- He uses his Blending Brush, a stiff bristle hairbrush, so the paint will move.
- Once the paint is out of his brush he uses it to blend and soften the colors together.
