Buck Unveils The Tugboat
Today is the day! Buck exposes the tugboat. Do you remember he began this painting by placing a pattern of the tugboat, made from contact paper onto the canvas? He then had complete freedom to paint the background and the waves without worrying if he would “mess up” his tugboat, the main star of the show! The contact paper is held in place and with the help of the edge of the palette knife, Buck gently lifts it off the canvas. He adds highlights to enhance the tugboat.
Years ago we filmed these shows for PBS. At the time there were several artists that we featured. It was always fun to see the camaraderie and the friendly competition between the artists. Such different styles, such different personalities! As you can tell by Buck’s jab at Bob Warren they truly enjoyed teasing each other. Not to worry, however, guaranteed, Bob reciprocated!
