This video comes from a video we created years ago though the information is relevant today. Buck shows how he uses color and blending to create a round object.
Once you understand which brushes to use for different results AND you have a good understanding of how your paint moves, you will be on your way to creating beautiful paintings.
If you haven’t tried Alexander paint and brushes yet, we suggest you do. We only sell a handful of brushes but anything can be done with the variety we have. Why not try our products today! We only sell directly to our customers. You will not find our products in stores or in other online shops. We choose to deliver our products this way because then we can cut out the middleman and keep our prices lower while keeping our quality high.
Points To Consider:
- Buck uses 4 values. (Dark, a little lighter, a little lighter yet, and light.)
- He is using Titanium White with Burnt Umber.
- Buck uses the Alexander Sable Brush to zigzag because it is soft hair. If he used a bristle brush it would not give the illusion of smoothness and softness. It would move too much paint.
- Notice he paints in the shape of the object.
- The Mop Brush is a great brush for softening things.
- He blends away from the light.6
- He cleans his brush between colors. He used thinner but we no longer recommend that. We recommend using Baby Wipes while you are painting and then cleaning up with Soap, Water, and Vegetable Oil at the end of the day. (Very little water.)
Really, if you haven’t used our products yet we recommend you do. You will find our quality to be high and always consistent. If you have questions or would like guidance as to where to begin please call Dawn at 360-686-1102. She will be happy to help you get off to a good start.
Happy Painting!
