Tom adds the majestic mountains.
One of our viewers pointed out an important point while asking the following question: “If we paint along with Tom as the videos come in, won’t the Magic White begin to dry out?”
The answer to his question is yes. The Magic White will begin to tack up but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Tom painted this project in one sitting. If he was painting it on his own, not for video, he would have taken a few days to do it to allow the paint to set up. Highlights go on much easier if the background color has had a chance to be exposed to air for a while, maybe even overnight. ,
The choice is yours. You can wait until you have all the videos (this one is longer and you will have two more days with longer videos and then you will have the complete project.). Or you can paint it as we’ve presented it to you and the top layers of paint may go on easier.
Even this video could be broken up into two sessions. You can first apply the base colors to the mountain and let it sit overnight and then add the highlights. I know that is what Tom would have done if he was painting for himself.
The canvas size Tom is using is 12″x16.” You can paint it on any size of canvas that you’d like.
As we’ve pointed out before, even if you aren’t going to paint along there is much to learn from this video. The entire project is about 90 minutes long and Tom does a lot of teaching throughout. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please call us at 360-686-1102 or just reply at the bottom of this email. We will respond as quickly as we can.
Happy Painting!
